It is estimated that residential fire sprinklers
could save over 200 lives and prevent at least 5,000 fire related
injuries each year in HMOs. That would save £millions in damages.
This shameful state of affairs can be resolved by
those that have the power to take action and install sprinklers into
this high risk category of housing.
HMOs house a high proportion of 'disadvantaged' or 'hard to influence'
people who are unlikely to listen to fire safety messages. For
less than the cost of the carpets, these people can have their lives
and property protected with automatic fire sprinkler systems.
